Already Google class room has been used as a tool to bridge the gap between teaching and real time learning process. Now few new tools have been implemented and they are followed by our faculties and students to enhance their teaching and learning skills.

  • Coursera/ EDX
  • NITTT/ NPTEL modules
  • Digital repository
  • Video sessions
  • Orientation programs
Our management offers various innovative online platforms to enhance the learning skills through online and Coursera is one such wonderful platform among them. All the faculties and student community of our department registered with Coursera and completed so many courses in order to enhance the learning skills. Through this platform faculty gained a lot of knowledge other than and out of curriculum and was able to reach a wider spectrum of learning.
EdX is the trusted platform for education and learning. It’s a home for more than 20 million learners, the majority of top-ranked universities in the world and industry-leading companies. Supporting learners at every stage, whether entering the job market, changing fields, seeking a promotion or exploring new interests, edX delivers courses for curious minds on topics ranging from data and computer science to leadership and communications.

It’s a way of making written notes, Power point presentations, multiple choice questions and all other materials related to teaching online. We maintain a separate Google drive folder for each subject and we create notes and all other materials in that folder for ease mode of teaching and sharing. These folders are maintained in a highly organised manner with CO PO mapping, syllabus, lesson plan etc.. Separate course moderators and coordinators are allotted for each subject in an cyclic basis in order to maintain the subject related documents . The better part and utilisation of all faculties for notes preparation, uploading and up gradation is monitored, evaluated and analysed periodically through review meetings and excel sheets by course moderators and coordinators.

Critiques

  • Ease mode of data handling
  • Data retrieval can be made ease
  • Every notes can be taken anytime anywhere irrespective of place and availability
  • Access of notes and other materials will be centralised and made common.
Generally there is a lagging in the knowledge of students regarding the real time applications of industrial concepts due to curriculum gap. Video class acts as a tool to fill this curriculum gap.

Critiques analyzed regarding curriculum gap:

  • Lagging of practical knowledge.
  • Unable to visualize concepts.
  • Lack of knowledge in industrial aspects and real time usage of mechanical components.
  • Unable to solve field problems after completion of degree.
  • Not aware of latest trends and innovations in industrial sector.
A meeting was conducted in a multidisciplinary level with all departments faculty members and stake holders to overcome the critiques discussed above. Then a conclusion was made to arrange video classes for the students periodically at regular intervals along with the expert faculty members of the subject to be handled in the video classes. This will enhance the knowledge of students to a higher level regarding industrial point of view. A peer review was done with following critiques. The video sessions are conducted in a highly professional way with a predefined procedure. First the videos are selected on the basis of contents, visual and audio clarity, sound content etc. Those videos are selected and allocated to faculties through a google class room and the faculties undergo a full view about the videos. They will prepare a MCQ of 25 to 30 questions about the video. Then the video will be first presented at the faculty forum and an open discussion is done about the video. Then its taken to student community. All these presentations at state of art acoustically built auditoriums in the college.

Critiques:

  • Expert faculty team will be there for their subject video presentation in order to clarify the doubts.
  • Acts as a bridge between theoretical and practical concepts.
  • Fills the curriculum gap by awakening the students with real time application and concepts.
  • Entertains the students as a change from regular chalk and talk methods.
  • Helps the faculty to gain practical knowledge about industrial applications and latest innovations.
Its really a pride that we have conducted an Orientation program for 3 days to the students coming to college. This orientation program is totally out of academia with an exposure to make students aware about their ethical, moral and social responsibilities. Its carried out with a visionary approach to put the needy thoughts into light. Various topics like discussion about SDGs, Scouts, IEEE, Ethics, Social responsibilities, Moral values, Psychology, Innovation, Project case studies were discussed in order make the students aware of teaching learning, innovation as well as societal gaps and their bridging possibilities.

Critiques:

  • Bridging the gap between innovation and Academics
  • Making aware of NEP
  • Importance of ethics in engineering
  • Bridging gap between human and moral values with teaching learning
We at Sai Ram train our students from day one itself into a innovative project handling scenario in which students pitch their innovative ideas in to project platform. For this we have four phases of project modules namely

  • Ideathon
  • Solveathon
  • Innovathon
  • Inspireathon

In these four phases students cultivate their ideas in first year which in turn they solve for technical possibilities and feasibility study through literature review in second year. In third year the problem solved becomes an innovative solution and in turn it becomes an innovative design and product. In final year the student inspire the community and society through their innovative product.
